Baked Apples with Cinnamon, Oats & Walnuts

Baked apples are a nostalgic dessert that brings back childhood memories. The baking process concentrates the apple's natural sugars and thickens the pectin (a wonderful soluble fiber). The oat and walnut filling adds crunch and healthy fats, alongside warming cinnamon aromas.

Preparation Steps

  1. 1

    Preheat the oven to 180°C.

  2. 2

Using an apple corer or small spoon, carefully hollow out the center of each apple to create a cavity for the filling (ensure the bottom remains intact so the filling doesn't leak).

  3. 3

In a small bowl, mix the oats, chopped walnuts, date syrup, and cinnamon.

  4. 4

Spoon the filling into the apple cavities, pressing down gently. Place the apples in a small baking dish and pour the hot water into the bottom of the dish. Bake for 35 minutes until the apples are tender and soft.
